Brandon Wheat Kings

Regular Season 2014-15
2014-15 x Regular Season

The Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings are mourning the passing of Wane Robertson, Wayne was a long-time volunteer, not only with the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings, but with sports in general. In the early 1990s, he was a driving force in the formation of the inaugural Brandon Wheat Kings Council, which was and is still responsible for the operation of the team.

He served as team manager on at least three occasions — with coach Tom Skinner and Ken Seekings in the 1990s, then with Craig Anderson, during which time the Wheat Kings won a national championship in 2003-04. Mr. Robertson also spent several years working with the Brandon University Bobcats in a similar capacity. On a broader scale, Mr. Robertson served as chairman of the committee which hosted the Air Canada Cup Midget Championship in 1993-94 as well as the sports committee for the Canada Summer Games, held in Brandon in 1997. The AAA Wheat Kings would like to extend their deepest condolences to the Robertson family.
