SELECTS BACK TO WINNING WAYS!

The Eastman Selects hosted the Yellowhead Chiefs on Saturday night and avenged the loss from a week earlier. The Selects jumped out to 5-0 lead mid way through the second period, then they ran into penalty trouble and gave up 3 goals late in the second and aloud the chiefs back in the game. In the midst of all those penalties were 2 - 5 minute majors and they lost the league point leader Brad Goethals and defenseman Curtis Brule for the remainder of the game.  The Selects avoided the penalty box in the third and closed out the game with an empty net goal and skated away with a 6-3 victory. Goal scorers for the selects were Brett Davis(2), Brad Goethals, Waylon Petkau, Kelby Picard, and Matt Leblanc. Landon Poiron got the win in net.

The next day the Selects hosted the Sourhwest Cougars. The Selects were playing shorthanded with both Brad Goethals and Curtis Brule serving "suspect" suspensions. 

The Cougars opened the scoring midway through the first but the Selects responded late in the frame scoring three times to lead 3-1 after 1. The second ultimately looked like a street fight with both teams taking their turns In the penalty box,  but ultimately the Selects penalty killing was superb and they extended their lead to 5-1. The Selects scored two more times in the third to win the game 7-1. the scoring star of the afternoon was Kolten Kanaski scoring his first hat trick! Other goal scorers were Devon Skoleski, Kelby Picard, Brett Davis, and Braeden Binda! Bailey Funk got the win in the net for the Selects. 

Eastmans next action is Wednesday night when they host the Interlake Lightning at 8:00 pm at the Sungro centre in Beausejour!
