Friday night the Southwest Cougars entertain the Parkland Rangers with 5 games left in the regular season. This is the third meeting of the year with the Rangers dropping the Cougars in Souris 4-1 earlier in the season and then picking up a 5-2 win in Roblin. The teams will meet next Friday night in Dauphin in the Cougars final road game.
The Rangers have had a good year as they prepare to host the Regional Telus Cup April 2-5 in Dauphin. The Rangers enter the weekend with a 21-15-2 record and are in seventh place.
The Cougars look to continue to have their claws in any team coming into the Cougar den and look to finish the year on a strong with hopes of making the playoffs dashed last weekend.
The Cougars have not been blown out of many games as they continue to outshoot the opposition but are still looking to score 100 goals in the year. Going into the final 5 games of the year they have struggled offensively scoring 92 goals on 1200 shots.

The Cougars then host the Kenora Thistles Sunday afternoon with Kenora still trying to nail down the final playoff spot as they enter the second last weekend of the season.
The Thistles sit 2 points up on Yellowhead for the final spot with a record coming into the weekend of 18-20-1 for 37 points. The Thistles have won 2 of 3 earlier contests and need to win to stay ahead of the Chiefs.
Kenora will to be in the hunt to head to Dauphin for the Regional Telus Cup in April representing Northern Ontario.
The Thistles final visit of the year to the Cougars den should be a good one, as the Cougars look to play spoiler. The Cougars will host the Yellowhead Chiefs on Wednesday night and the Thistles will be cheering for the Cougars in that game.
Don’t forget to look for the 50/50 draw this afternoon or if you have $10 and would like to go to Calgary in March to see and NHL game in March tickets are still available for an all expense paid weekend.
