Game 1 - Eastman Selects vs  Winnipeg Wild

With the 6th place Selects playing the 1st place Wild one would think that the Wild should be the heavy favorites. Not so fast though as the Selects took two games from the Wild this season and their last match up back in December went to the Selects.  Period one was fast paced with both clubs getting their fore-checking game going giving both teams fits trying to get out of their own end.  Matthew Osadick scored on a quick shot on the short side that somehow found the back of the net.  Rylan Hoffman had the lone assist.  Minutes later Matthew Hill came over the blue line on the left wing and sauced a pass over to the middle where Preston Seymour raced in to redirect a shot to give Eastman a two-goal lead.  After looking like they had a week off, the Wild got their game going in the second as they erased the two-goal deficit.  The first Wild goal was a shot from the point that may have been redirected going over the catching glove of Belluk. The second goal had the Eastman goalie leaning away from the post that found its way across the red line.  In the third at 14:45 the Wild completed their comeback with a pass from behind the net to an incoming Wild forward whose one timer along the ice was good enough for the score.  An empty netter sealed the 4 to 2 win for the Wild.  Eastman could not muster much offense with only 17 shots on the evening and their anemic power play will need to change if they are to have a chance against the highly skilled Wild.

Game 2 - Winnipeg Wild vs Eastman Selects

Game two started with a couple of great shifts by the Selects.  On one occasion they even had a 2 on 0 that was stopped by a nice save by Anderson.  The Wild weathered the storm and both teams settled in to a tight checking affair that saw no goals in the first.  In the Second the streak of the Selects scoring the first goal in 6 consecutive games ended as Hunter Cloutier of the Wild came out of the corner, showed patience and beat Morin to get the games first goal.  At 17:25 the Selects got their power play going as Preston Seymour deflected a hard shot from the left point from Drew Draward.  The puck hitting the back of the net was heard around the rink to lift the Selects fans from their seats.  In the third at the 6:16 mark Cole Dekoninck danced in went around the back of the net and stuffed it in after getting a second whack at the puck to give the Selects their first lead of the game.  Just over a minute later on another power play opportunity Osadick won the draw to Cruise who drew in the Wild defender to pass across to a wide-open Dekoninck.  Dekoninck took two steps in and rifled his second of the game to make the score 3 to 1.  The Wild had one great chance late in the game but the Selects defense hold on steady to preserve the win.  With the series tied at 1 the next pivotal game will be at the Iceplex this Friday at 7:00.  Come out and cheer on your Selects!
