DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH

January

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Luke Wagner of the Winnipeg Bruins as the Assiniboine Community College Defenceman of the Month for the month of January.  Luke is in grade 11 and second year player in the U18 league. This year he is an assistant captain for the Winnipeg Bruins and a big part of their regular season success thus far. He plays big minutes in all situations and contributes both on and off the ice.  In the month of January Luke had an offensive outburst that consisted of 3 goals , 9 assists, 12 points in the 9 games. 

December

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is proud to announce Aaron Krestanowich of the Winnipeg Wild as the Assiniboine Community College Defenceman of the Month for December.  Aaron is 16 year old playing in his second season with the Wild.  The 6’ 2” 180lb defenseman had 4 goals and added another 6 assists during the Wild’s 9 games in December.  Aaron, who is an assistant captain with the Wild, is currently the team’s leading scoring defenseman with 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points in 27 games played and currently has a plus/minus rating of +16.  He is a leader both on and off the ice, is counted on playing in all situations and leads by example through his play.  Aaron is a 5th round drafted prospect for the Regina Pats of the WHL and is a protected player for the Winnipeg Blues in the MJHL.

November

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is happy to announce Luke Lepper of the Brandon Wheat Kings as the Assiniboine Community College Defenseman of the Month. Luke had a very good month of November. This 17 year old Brandon native is a prospect of the Neepawa Titans of the MJHL.  He recorded 1 goal and 8 assists in 8 games over the course of November. With those 8 assists, Luke was able to move into the top 5 in the league in assists.

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce that Darren Hunt of the Southwest Cougars is the Assiniboine Community College Defenceman of the Month. 

Darren is in his second year with the Cougars. He has stepped into a role where he plays in all situations and played big minutes throughout October with the Cougars having only 5 defensemen. Darren is a smooth skating defensemen that likes to jump up in the play. He’s a quiet leader in the room and lets his play lead the team. Darren is currently in grade 11 at Hartney High School and is listed by the Swan Valley Stampeders in the MJHL. Throughout October, Darren had 3 goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 13 games while carrying a +/- of +3.
